 My Experience as a Leader:
I am a science teacher at Sisters Middle School in Sisters, OR. I have been a teacher for 16 years and this is my 8th year at Sisters. I teach 7th grade Life Science and 8th grade Earth Science. I also help with the 6th grade Outdoor School and have a 6-8th grade Science Club that meets after school. I am a cross-country coach for the Middle School and I am a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 188 in Sisters. I have participated in both High School and Junior High/Middle School Student Ambassador Programs for the past 5 summers, and have visited the British Isles, Europe, and Australia.
My Travel Experience:
With People to People Student Ambassador Programs I have journeyed to Great Britain, Wales, Ireland, France, Germany, Switzerland, Spain and Australia. In 2006, I took the Boy Scouts on a 12 day High Adventure canoe trip to northern British Columbia. As a teacher, I have taken numerous overnight science field trips with my students.
My Hobbies and Interests:
I am married and have 3 children (2 in college and one, a high school Senior). As a family we love rafting, horseback riding mountain climbing, fly-fishing and wild roller coaster rides. On weekends we can be found camping and enjoying all that Central Oregon has to offer.
My Favorite People to People Moment:
My favorite moments with the People to People program are to witness the relationships that develop between the students, their home stay families, and with others they meet on their journey.
