Delegation Leader - Lori Willmon

My Experience as a Leader:

I have 16 years teaching experience. I currently teach Early Childhood Special Education through the High Desert Education Service District in Prineville.

My Travel Experience:

I grew up in Washington & Alaska. I have since lived in Maryland & Oregon.

In the Fall of 1985, my Sophomore year of college, I participated in a program called Semester at Sea. Through this program I studied onboard ship while visiting Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, India, Egypt, Turkey, Greece, and Spain. This is when I was bitten by the “travel bug.”

My daughter and I visited Germany and France in the Spring of 2004. My travels with Student Ambassador delegations have taken me to England, France, Italy & Malta (“Heart of the Mediterranean” & “Exploring England and France” programs), as well as to Washington D.C. with World Leadership Forums.

My Hobbies and Interests:

  • My daughter and I are very involved with our church.
  • I love to camp, hike, read, and knit.
  • I LOVE to travel, and I have a life goal to visit most parts of the world.

My Favorite People to People Moment:

My most favorite People to People moment was watching the face of one of my middle school delegates last summer. He was born deaf, has a cochlear implant, and had never been away from his family before heading to Europe as a Student Ambassador. Watching him experience LIFE on his own for the first time was amazing... he was so animated that you could truly watch his feelings flash across his face. Incredible!!

My Family:

My family consists of my 17 year old daughter, Megan, who is a Senior at Bend Senior High School, as well as two cats and a Golden Retriever.
